Farm Boy expects to have five more Toronto locations by the end of 2021. The stores are part of an earlier announcement about the chain’s ongoing expansion plans.
The new stores bring the total locations to 43.
When Empire Company acquired Farm Boy in 2018, it had 26 stores. At that time, Empire announced plans to double its store count over five years through new builds and conversions of some existing Sobeys locations. Since December 2018, Empire has opened five new Farm Boy locations and announced plans for 12 more stores.
The stores set to open include a location at Yonge and Soudan, which is scheduled to open this month, Front and Bathurst streets in the winter of 2021 and three other stores in 2021 – at Dundas West and Auckland, at Dupont and Christie and on Habourfront.
The new stores will range in size from 12,000 sq. ft. to 38,000 sq. ft.
