Adonis Gatineau façade

After six months of work the first Adonis supermarket has opened in Gatineau, QC, near Ottawa.

The Mediterranean-focused food retailer now has 10 stores in Quebec and two in Ontario. Eight of the stores have opened since Adonis partnered with Metro in 2011.

The 41,000 sq ft store is staffed by approximately 150 employees and offers the multicultural shopping experience typical of the Adonis brand. That includes a buffet-style counter of freshly cooked hot and grilled foods, a 50-seat eating area, a wide variety of fresh produce, a large nut and olive counter and an extensive selection of fresh and marinated cuts of meat. There’s also a seafood counter, a fresh cheese counter, another counter with fresh bread baked on-site, a cake and pastry counter and an organic grocery section. There’s also a large pita oven where fresh flatbreads are baked daily.
