Some consumers in Canada will soon have access to Amazon’s one and two-hour membership delivery service, Prime Now, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Prime Now could be launching as soon as November in Vancouver followed by a January test launch in Toronto. If these launches go well, Amazon said it could potentially expand the service to other cities in Canada. In the U.S. Prime Now is free with a $99 annual Prime membership.
These plans build on Amazon’s recent acquisition of Whole Foods – Amazon owns 13 Whole Foods stores in Canada – and the company stated in a presentation to suppliers that Prime Now would offer grocery items including produce, dairy, frozen food and personal care products. According to reports, Amazon is also considering partnerships with popular local bakeries and butcher shops to enhance its offering.
