Calgary gets last mile autonomous delivery service

A Calgary startup is using semi-autonomous robots to deliver groceries and other items to help support the last-mile delivery gap in the region.

Dianomix uses autonomous delivery robots housed at community retail stores to deliver goods purchased through a retailers existing ecommerce platforms. The robot is designed with a large cargo box to allow for multiple deliveries in a single trip with automatic unloading. It can deliver up to 10 bags at different addresses in one trip. And it can operate in rain or light snow, according to the company that says the technology has been tested under Canadian weather.

Retailers can subscribe to the service and have access to one or more robots in their stores to make the deliveries.
