Dollarama implements 10% temporary pay increase for frontline workers

Dollarama, which has been deemed an essential business, has implemented measures in its nearly 1,300 stores across the country to protect its frontline workers and shoppers, including a 10 per cent temporary pay increase from March 23, 2020 to July 1, 2020 for all store-level employees and hourly distribution centre and warehouse employees.

Dollarama will continue to operate its Montreal-based distribution centre, warehouses and at least all its retail locations with street access in these provinces.

“As a weekly shopping destination for millions of Canadians, we are doing everything possible to keep our stores open and well-stocked to provide affordable everyday necessities to our customers in the days, weeks and months ahead,” says Neil Rossy, president and chief executive officer of Dollarama. “The vast majority of our stores acrossCanada will remain open to serve our customers while respecting official health and physical distancing directives.”

Other measures include implementing additional cleaning and disinfecting procedures for stores, distribution centres annd warehouses, reducing store operating hours to allow for cleaning and restocking and encouraging vulnerable customers to shop during the first hour of operation.
