Close to 200 employees at an Edmonton Superstore were treated to free meals as a thank you for being the community’s unsung heroes during the pandemic.

Canadian Western Bank (CWB) worked with some of its business clients who are restaurants – Blaze Pizza and Five Guys Burgers and Fries – to deliver the thank you meals to the Edmonton grocery store.

This specific Superstore was nominated by CWB’s Facebook audience on a social post that called for nominations for unsung heroes in the community who deserve a free meal.

The meals were delivered on Friday, May 8 for the evening restocking crew at 11:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 9 for the afternoon shift at 12:00 p.m.

CWB says it has already treated numerous individuals to meals, but this is the first time that it has purchased dinner for an entire group of employees.

The initiative is part of a larger activation the bank is calling “Appetite for Good,” which aims to spread some goodwill and cheer to deserving individuals in Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Regina, Saskatoon and Winnipeg by providing free meals to those nominated by the public on CWB’s Facebook channel.
