The Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers (CFIG), has postponed Grocery & Specialty Food West 2020, originally scheduled for April 27-28 due to COVID-19 concerns. The new show and conference will take place April 26 and 27, 2021.

In a statement to members and exhibitors, CFIG chair Ron Welke and president and CEO Tom Shurrie note that CFIG and its Board of Directors concluded that the most prudent course of action was to postpone the April show and focus attention and resources on Grocery Innovations Canada, set for October 27 adn 28, 2020 in Toronto.

“Canadians have confidence in our public health care system and CFIG is encouraged by the steps the federal and provincial governments have taken to address the economic challenges arising from this pandemic. More will need to be done in the months ahead. But we also believe in the inherent ability of Canadians to meet and overcome challenges—and no-one exemplifies this spirit better than the independent grocers of Canada. We believe that as has been the case with past pandemics, the Coronavirus too will be contained and recede in the months ahead.
