The Longo’s annual charity golf tournament is the Longo’s Family Charitable Foundation signature event. In its 29th year, the annual event will be held Tuesday, June 19 at the Lionhead Golf Club & Conference Centre.
Rosanne Longo, Longo’s spokesperson and chair of the Longo’s Family Charitable Foundation, says the organization has raised more than $3.6 million since its inception.
The funding goes toward a variety of local hospitals and children’s charities. This year, money raised from the event will go to Skylark, Juravinski Cancer Centre, Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital and ErinoakKids.
Each year, more than 500 golfers over two shotguns on the same day come out for the tournament. Golfers have the opportunity to win a $25,000 Longo’s gift card.
The annual event began in 1990 when the grocery retailer’s three founders, Tommy, Joe and Gus Longo, found a way to give back to communities.
