During Shelley Broader’s four-year tenure as Walmart Canada’s CEO, she had the opportunity to work with and meet many talented marketing people within Canada’s CPG/retail industry.

So, in 2015, when Broader (pictured, top left), accepted the CEO role at Chico’s FAS, a Florida-based women’s clothing retailer, it was no surprise that she tapped into marketing talent from north of the border (Chico’s FAS operates stores in the U.S. and Canada). Under Broader’s leadership, all three of Chico’s FAS divisions – White House Black Market, Chico’s and Soma – have senior Canadian marketers in key roles.

Earlier this year, Sandra Sanderson (top, right), formerly chief marketer for Walmart Canada, became senior vice-president, marketing, for the White House Black Market brand, and Shelagh Stoneham (bottom, left), former senior vice-president marketing at Shoppers Drug Mart, became senior vice-president marketing for Chico’s.

And this month it was announced that U.S.-based Mary van Praag (bottom, right), who was general manager of Coty in Canada for several years, will be leading the Soma brand.
