Farm Boy to debut waste-free meals with reusable containers

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Farm Boy is set to introduce waste-free meals at its Guelph, Ont. store on Stone Road W. through a new partnership with Guelph-based start-up Friendlier, according to Guelph Today. Starting Aug. 19, customers can use Friendlier’s reusable containers for ready-to-eat meals from the store’s salad and hot bars.

Friendlier, founded in 2019 by University of Waterloo graduates Kayli Dale and Jacqueline Hutchings, aims to simplify the transition from single-use to reusable packaging. The company offers high-quality reusable food containers designed to reduce environmental impact while maintaining convenience and cost savings for consumers.

Customers will pay a 50-cent deposit when purchasing meals in reusable containers, which can be reclaimed through the Friendlier app or website by scanning a QR code. The deposit is refunded via e-transfer when the containers are returned.
