Gus Lanzarotta & John Gennaro
The late Gus Lanzarotta and John Gennaro were business partners for over 40 years in Lanzarotta Wholesale Grocers, growing it to the largest independent food distributor in Canada. They retired in 2000 upon selling the business to Sobeys. Lanzarotta, president and partner, and Gennaro, vice president and partner, were both very active in the Italian community and in the industry. They were honoured with the Golden Pencil award as well as the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers’ Lifetime Achievement award, among many other accolades.
