At least seven companies committed indictable offences in the bread price fixing scandal, according to the Competition Bureau in newly released documents.

According to news reports, Competition Bureau documents allege wholesalers Canada Bread Company and George Weston Ltd. communicated directly with one another and with retail customers including Loblaw Companies Ltd., Walmart Canada Corp., Sobeys Inc., Metro Inc., and Giant Tiger Stores Ltd.

In a Financial Post report today, Loblaw spokesman Kevin Groh states “we have admitted our role, and you cannot price fix alone,” noting that the company stands by its previous statements and the actions it has taken.
