Canada Plastics Pact launched to help end plastic waste


Canada Plastics Pact (CPP) launched to help end plastic waste and handle pollution.

More than 35 partners have joined CPP, including waste management companies, government institutions and NGOs. CPP will enable companies to collaborate and grow over time.

By 2025, CPP aims to define a list of plastic packaging that needs to be eliminated, support designing plastic that is reusable and recyclable and have an average of 30 per cent recyclable content for all plastic packaging.

“Joining together through the CPP is a diverse group of leaders from across Canada’s plastics value chain,” says David Hughes, CEO of The Natural Step Canada, the host organization of CPP.

Plastic packaging is 47 per cent of all plastic waste.
