Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is making executive management changes in its international division. COO Judith McKenna is the new chief executive of the company’s international division unit, according a Reuters news report that cites “a source with knowledge of the matter.”

McKenna began her career with Walmart in 1996 as COO and CFO at Asda, Walmart’s U.K. operation. She held various posts before and after moving to Walmart’s U.S. division in 2014, culminating as executive VP and COO for Walmart U.S. with responsibilities for the company’s U.S. store operations, including more than 4,500 retail locations.

McKenna replaces current international division CEO David Cheesewright, who headed up the EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) and Canada regions for several years.

“During his 19 years with the company, David has served in a number of key leadership roles in our company,” said Walmart president and CEO Doug McMillon. “He has built a reputation as an insightful strategic thinker with a track record of delivering consistent, profitable growth. He has been instrumental in strengthening our business across the globe. He’s a passionate advocate for our people, culture and purpose around the world.”

Cheesewright will remain with Walmart on a  full-time basis through March, after which he will serve the company on a limited basis with specific projects over a longer period.
