IGA and Fresh St. Market in B.C. partner with Girl Guides


IGA and Fresh St. Market are joining forces to help Girl Guides of Canada sell thousands of unsold cookies.

The cookies are now available at all IGA and Fresh St. Market locations across B.C. All proceeds will benefit Girl Guides of Canada’s ongoing programs.

Like many organizations, Girl Guides of Canada has had to find alternative ways to meet fundraising goals essential to the organization. IGA and Fresh St. Market are now working together with Girl Guides of Canada to retrieve the thousands of boxes of cookies, and in the safest way possible, make these available to customers so they can enjoy the cookies while supporting Girl Guides to continue offering their in-person educational and leadership programs for girls when pandemic protocols lift.

 “It has always been our mandate to support the community and at times like this, it’s even more vital for businesses and non-profits to come and work together,” says Mark McCurdy, vice president of retail operations, Georgia Main Food Group. “Many British Columbians likely have had some form of connection to the Girl Guides organization and many have enjoyed Girl Guide cookies in the past, all the while supporting their diverse and important programs. We are pleased to be able to assist them in getting their cookies into the hands of customers who want to help.”
