Instacart and Loblaws launch home delivery in Halifax

Home grocery delivery has come to the Halifax, NS area, courtesy of grocery delivery service Instacart and Loblaws Atlantic Superstores.

As of last week, shoppers could access the Instacart website or mobile app to place an order and specify the delivery time frame. The in-store shopper accepts the order on their smartphone, picks the ordered items and then delivers the shipment as specified. Delivery can be made within one hour, in two hours or up to five days in advance.

The delivery fee for orders of $35 or more is $3.99, but Instacart Express members receive unlimited, free same-day delivery on orders of $35 or more.

Instacart plans to hire more than 100 new personal shoppers to fill the orders in-store. The service is available in more than 250 markets in North America.
