FreshCo has opened its latest Western Canadian location in Kelowna, B.C. The store is one of six former Safeway stores that has been transformed into a FreshCo.

Since it’s opened amidst the pandemic, it has been following provincial guidelines that includes staff at the door, markers on floors, plexiglass shielding at cashier areas, deep cleaning and other protective measures that the chain has implemented at all its stores across Canada.

Empire Company Limited announced last June that six Safeways in B.C. would be transformed into FreshCo stores. The move was part of the company’s ongoing expansion of FreshCo into Western Canada. It opened its first FreshCo in Western Canada last April, two more in Winnipeg and one in Richmond, B.C. last May.
