Loblaw Companies Limited says it plans to provide “priority access” for all healthcare workers in most of its locations.

Galen Weston, executive chairman of Loblaw Companies Limited says the company wanted to offer a service in appreciation of healthcare workers, similar to what it has done with its dedicated seniors’ hours in its stores.

“We’re now providing priority access for healthcare workers in almost all of our locations throughout the day. By showing their healthcare ID, these essential frontline employees will get priority entrance to our supermarkets and drugstores.”

In a letter to customers, he says that healthcare workers are under incredible strain. “They spend long and stressful shifts supporting directly impacted individuals and often don’t know when exactly they will be working from week to week. This uncertainty makes shopping for their own essentials very hard.”
