McCain Foods backs launch of global plant-based brand

The Simple Root is a new global plant-based brand backed by McCain Foods launching in the U.K. later this year.

According to McCains, The Simple Root uses innovative technology to transform potatoes and other root vegetables into a creamy taste and texture which is essential to many consumer’s favourite dairy treats, but without artificial flavours and allergens such as dairy, nuts, soy and eggs. The technology to create this patented ingredient base was developed in collaboration with McCain Foods and Pilot Lite Capital.

‘The Simple Root’ will offer a range of dairy alternative products. The product pipeline includes cooking sauces, dips and cheese alternatives—with a global rollout to key markets coming soon.
