Metro’s Etobicoke DC expansion clears hurdle


Metro’s plans to replace and expand its distribution centre in Etobicoke, ON, have been endorsed by Etobicoke York community council.

The council voted to endorse city planning recommendations for a zoning bylaw amendment that would allow for a one storey warehouse DC. City council will vote on the recommendation in June. reports that the new 540,000 square foot facility will include a refrigerated warehouse, a distribution centre and administrative offices, and will provide jobs for 600 employees.

Metro will invest $400 million in the two-phase project. Each phase is expected to take 15 to 18 months.
