Montreal-based online food subscription service MissFresh has launched a pilot project to make in-store pickup more eco-friendly.

The meal kit pilot launched on April 9 in five Metro locations; Metro Inc. acquired a majority stake in the company in 2017.  MissFresh offers ready to cook meal kits in reusable bins rather than in boxes. Customers can bring the products home using the free reusable bags provided with the first order and can access recipe cards online to aid them in preparing the meals.

“We are confident that people will recognize the efforts being made to reduce our packaging footprint and will be eager to join us in our efforts,” said MissFresh co-founder Marie-Eve Prevost. “With customers’ support, we plan on quickly expanding the number of Metro pick-up locations to allow us to offer a more eco-responsible experience to a wider group.”

MissFresh says the pilot makes it the first national meal kit company in Canada to adopt reusable packaging.
