Pusateri’s Yorkville location set to close after 20 years in Toronto: future uncertain

Pusateri’s Yorkville will close its doors at the end of March after 20 years in the space, the company’s head of marketing, Paolo Pusateri, told Grocery Business in an email. He says management chose not to renew its lease at the space.

“… Several factors (are) driving a shift in the retail landscape which impacted this property,” he told Grocery Business, opting not to disclose specifics.

Instead, the company will prioritize its three remaining locations and focus on opening its new concept store in Toronto’s Little Italy neighbourhood this spring.

“… Our three other locations (Avenue Road, Bayview Village, and the Saks Food Hall by Pusateri’s Eaton Centre) are open. We will be focusing our energy on serving our community with these locations and through online ordering and delivery services at,” he told Grocery Business.

Pusateri added the company is focused on relocating all employees from the Yorkville location to other stores across its chain.

“Naturally, the welfare of our employees is a top concern. We are committed to them by offering our entire team relocation positions within our company for uninterrupted employment,” Pusateri told Grocery Business. “We are deeply thankful to the Yorkville community for two decades of creating wonderful memories with us at this neighbourhood Pusateri’s. We look forward to seeing them again through our other locations.”

Pusateri’s closed its Saks Food Hall at CF Sherway Gardens last year. Since 1963, Pusateri’s has been known for its selection of upscale food items and gourmet offerings.
