SIAL Canada recognizes startups at Montreal Pitch Competition

SIAL Canada recognized startups at its Pitch Competition, held during its Montreal trade show and conference. Grocery Business is a sponsor of the competition

Four winners were selected by a jury who made their decision following the pitches by 10 food and foodtech businesses. Each company had three minutes to make their pitches.


Food and Beverage Category

First Place Gold Winner: Epic Tofu, which makes frozen, pre-chopped, pre-marinated ready-to-cook tofu.

Second Place Silver Winner: Dunord, which makes plant-based meal kits.

Third Place Bronze Winner: Maison Théier, team crémant business that is an alternative to champagne.

Technology and Packaging Winner: UpTaste, a company that offers automated in-store sampling.

The SIAL Canada Pitch Competition aims to showcase companies offering innovative products, technologies, or services in the food and beverage sector that respond to current market trends. In addition to media coverage, the gold prize winner receives a 100 sq ft turnkey booth for SIAL Toronto 2025 and a brand and packaging diagnostic by Pigeon. The second place silver winner receives a bare 100 sq ft booth for SIAL Toronto 2025, and the third place bronze winner gets a spot in the Startup Village or a discount of the equivalent amount on a 100 sq ft booth for SIAL Toronto 2025.
