Manitoba grocery workers ratify contract with Loblaw

Workers at Superstore, Extra Foods, and No Frills stores in Manitoba have ratified a new contract with Loblaw.

CBC News reports that 3500 workers belonging to United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 832 have voted to accept a new five-year agreement that improves wages, protects full-time positions and improves health and welfare benefits, including enhanced sick time. The union says it is also working with the company to establish a program to hire and retain workers with disabilities.

A tentative contract was reached at the end of September.
