Walmart Canada pays employees to go back to school

Walmart Canada has launched an education assistance program for its employees and their families.

The “AdvancED Education Assistance Program” provides $2500 to any full time employee who attends an accredited Canadian college or university, Yahoo Finance reports. Employees who take courses at Ontario’s Humber College or a school partnered with Humber will receive an additional 20 per cent tuition reimbursement.

Permanent part time employees and eligible family members of full time employees will be reimbursed 20 per cent of their tuition for programs or courses they pursue at Humber College or one of Humber’s partner schools.

Employees also earn course credits for on-the-job training and experience, which will reduce the time it takes to complete courses.

Walmart launched a similar plan in the U.S. in May.
