Walmart considering private equity bids for ASDA

Walmart is moving ahead with the sale of Asda, the U.K. supermarket chain it owns.

According to company sources, three private equity firms are set to make bids on the chain: DR Capital, Lone Star Funds, and Apollo Global Management, Inc., all three of which participated in the first round of bidding when Adsa first went on the block.

According to anonymous sources obtained by Bloomberg, Asda could be worth as much as &8.6 million to Walmart. These sources also indicated that Walmart will only sell Asda if it deems the bids high enough, raising the possibility that none of the three private equity firms will end up sealing the deal.
