Walmart U.S. cuts more store manager positions

Walmart U.S. is cutting two department manager positions at some of its 4,700 stores.

The positions are in the cellphone departments and online grocery pickup areas. Many of the employees will be moved to other positions, Walmart said.

This is the second round of manager level cuts for Walmart this year. In January, 3,500 salaried co-managers were replaced with 1,700 lower paid assistant store managers.

Walmart also announced in January that it was closing 63 Sam’s Club stores, affecting about 9,400 employees.

It’s not clear yet whether the cuts will be implemented at Walmart stores in Canada.
