Walmart launches fresh grocery delivery in Vancouver

This week, Walmart Canada announced the launch of “sustainable grocery delivery” for Metro Vancouver.

The service is being launched in collaboration with the Sustainable Produce Urban Delivery (SPUD) food delivery platform, Food-X Urban Delivery Inc. Customers can shop online or via the Walmart app and have their grocery orders delivered to their door by Food-X.

Once customers have completed their order, they pay by credit card and then select a delivery time window. Food-X will deliver the order in reusable totes as early as the next day, Walmart says. Minimum order is $50 before taxes and the delivery charge is $9.97.

Food-X is supporting Walmart with shared warehousing and consolidation of orders. The Food-X warehouse is built to a sustainable design, minimizing food waste and reducing the number of truck trips as much as possible. For its part, Walmart has committed to reaching zero food waste by 2025.
