Walmart seeking CEO for new stealth tech initiative


Walmart has posted a CEO job ad for a “Stealth Company” that would be run as part of its Store No. 8 incubator.

The new position would involve creating relationships with artificial intelligence and emerging technologies entrepreneurs.

Store No. 8 is a special Walmart branch named after one of the company’s original locations that was used by founder Sam Walton to develop new retail strategies. Since its launch in 2017, the incubator has been involved in projects such as Walmart’s Jetblack same-day delivery service, Spatialand, a virtual reality software firm acquired last year, and Project Kepler, which has been set up to compete with Amazon Go.

The new CEO will be responsible for “building a business from scratch,” as well as working with senior Walmart leaders and acting as the “public champion” for the business, reports
