Walmart signs pledge to cut plastic pollution in oceans

Walmart has joined other large multinational corporations in pledging to reduce plastic pollution in the world’s oceans.

The pledge has been made in support of a G7 anti-pollution campaign, launched in Canada in June, to ensure 100 per cent of plastics are recyclable by 2030. Two G7 members – the US and Japan – refused to join the campaign, but Norway and Jamaica also joined in.

Besides Walmart, Loblaws, Nestlé Canada, IKEA, Dow Chemicals, the Coca-Cola Company, BASF Canada and A&W Canada have joined the campaign. Their partnership with the G7 campaign was announced on the second day of a G7 ministerial meeting in Halifax.
