Walmart to launch $98/year membership program

Walmart is reportedly set to launch a $98 per year subscription service in the U.S. to compete more aggressively with Amazon’s $119 yearly fee.

Walmart+ is set to launch in July, according to a report by Recode, which also notes that the service will include same-day delivery of groceries and discount fuel at Walmart gas stations. The annual fee, dubbed by some as an “Amazon Prime killer,” matches Walmart’s existing grocery delivery program, known as Delivery Unlimited, a service that comes with limited grocery inventory. The new program offers customers a broader grocery selection.

Grocery Business reached out to Walmart Canada to learn if the service will be offered to Canadian customers but did not receive a response.
