WATCH: Costco returns to its wholesaling roots

Thursday, April 6, 2017

The Costco Business Centre concept store, newly opened in Scarborough, Ont., is essentially a throwback to the retailer’s origins as a wholesaler, according to a BNN report.

The store caters to small business owners looking to stock up on snacks and beverages, restaurant-grade food, utensils and dishes or bulk food ingredients intended for the foodservice industry. Up to 90 per cent of products found at the Business Centre won’t be available at regular stores.

Marc-André Bally, vice-president of Costco Wholesale Business Centre at Costco Wholesale Canada, told BNN the retailer hopes, within five years, to “be in all major Canadian cities where we have a good Costco presence.”
