Whole Foods to dramatically expand its workforce

Whole Foods recently held what it called “National Hiring Day” in the U.S. According to Fortune, the Amazon subsidiary intended to recruit 6,000 people, including full- and part-time jobs, ranging from cashiers to culinary experts. All local stores were involved in the recruitment effort.

On this side of the border, Whole Foods owner, Amazon, announced plans to open a second office in downtown Vancouver adding about 1,000 workers to its current workforce of more than 1,800 in B.C., says Business Vancouver. About 90 per cent of Amazon’s more than 1,000 current downtown Vancouver workers are software engineers.

In all, Amazon hopes to hire as many as 100,000 additional workers by the middle of 2018. Beyond warehouse jobs, Amazon is also looking for software engineers, data scientists, and customer-service representatives
