Alberta Lum, a well-known member of the grocery industry, has announced his retirement from Buy-Low Foods.
Lum, the vice president of supply chain and procurement at the company, says he plans to retire on July 1, 2020, after spending nearly 50 years in the industry. Lum has spent his entire career in the grocery industry and began to work in the industry at the young age of 10 in Fiji, where he worked for his family’s restaurant and grocery store. When his family immigrated to Canada to in the early 1970s, he began to work at a Fort Langley, B.C. IGA store, eventually working his way up to store manager. He joined Buy-Low in 1996.
“It has been a wonderfully inspiring and rewarding career. However, time moves along and Donna too retired at the end of May, so are both excited to embark on new adventures.
This has not been an easy decision to make, as I will surely miss the people I have had the pleasure to work with – many of whom have become dear friends. And it is my sincere wish that these relationships will continue to keep us connected.”
