Longo’s has re-opened its Weston Road location following a temporary two-week closure after a store employee tested positive for COVID-19. Longo’s says it conducted a deep cleaning and sanitization of the store and reviewed all safety measures.

In a statement Longo’s issued, it says that in addition to the safety measures already in place, the Weston Road location will introduce new protocols to promote continued safety and security at the store.

The new measures include:

  • Mandatory wellness screenings for all staff and customers prior to entering the store. These screenings will include a set of questions and contactless temperature checks. These measures will also be mandatory for each of our vendors and service partners that enter the store.
  • Facial masks will be mandatory for staff and employees who enter the store to work or shop. Longo’s says it will provide masks for its team members and will also provide disposable masks to customers who may not have their own.
  • Plexiglass shields have been installed in additional areas including the bakery and deli, as well as for front end stations including cashiers

These new measures will be also introduced at additional Longo’s Vaughan locations including Maple (2810 Major MacKenzie Dr W) and Rutherford (5283 Rutherford Rd).

Longo’s has implemented many successful initiatives in the past month that have proven very valuable to its community. These include Community Wellbeing Hour from 8 am – 9 am daily serving seniors and our vulnerable population, as well as bypass lines for healthcare workers and first responders. These initiatives are currently offered at all store locations.
