Metro has announced it is donating an additional $ 1 million donation to Banques Alimentaires du Québec and to the Centraide emergency fund, after having announced a donation of $500,000 to Banques Alimentaires du Québec and Feed on March 25 Ontario, as well as $ 500,000 to the United Way / Centraide emergency fund.
It’s also calling on customers who are members of the metro ad moi program to convert their points into a donation, if they can and want, to these two organizations. Metro says it will match this amount up to an additional $ 1 million.
The additional donations reiterates the grocer’s commitment to respond to the increasing need for food aid and other essential services such as assistance for the elderly or support in matters of mental health. In order to facilitate the process and act immediately, Metro has chosen its long-standing partners, Banques Alimentaires du Québec and Centraide, who will redistribute aid to regional organizations, who are on the front lines to serve people who are in a precarious situation during this difficult period.
These new announcements are in addition to Metro’s continued support for these organizations, including a donation of $ 500,000 to the major fundraising campaign of Banques Alimentaires du Québec, which is co-chaired by Eric La Flèche, president and chief of direction of Metro. Metro is also a partner in the Food Bank Supermarket Recovery Programs in Quebec and Feed Ontario.
