Nestlé, P&G world’s two largest CPG firms in 2017

The latest analysis by data and analytics company GlobalData puts Nestlé in the number one spot among the world’s top 25 consumer packaged goods companies, with a market cap value of $267.5 B at the end of 2017, up 18.2 % over the previous year.

Nestlé’s rise bumped Procter & Gamble, whose market cap was virtually unchanged at $228.8 B, into second spot. Anheuser-Busch InBev came in third at $226 B.

Most of the top 25 CPG companies registered market-cap growth in 2017. For 19 of them, that growth hit double digits. In terms of revenue, 40 % of the top 25 posted increases, while the rest were largely unchanged.

GlobalData bases its rankings on corporate annual reports as well as market capitalization figures.
