Windsor food and restaurant entrepreneurs Marc Romualdi and Jonathan Reaume have opened a new concept grocery store in Chatham, Ont. called Mercato Fresh.

Romualdi owns M.R. Meat Market stores in Windsor and Reaume is a Red Seal chef who owns Toscana Restaurant and Wine Bar in Windsor.

According to a story in Chatham Daily News, the new grocery store features three to four Red Seal chefs on the premise that can answer questions and accommodate customers’ requests. The grocery store includes a restaurant, cafe and bakery on one side of the store, an area equipped with WiFi.

Romualdi says in the Chatham online story says Mercato Fresh is focused on service.

“When you shop at some of the big box stores, you can walk through the aisles and not one person will talk to you,” he said. “You walk through this store, you’ll be talking to 30 different employees.”
