New independent grocer opens store in Ontario

A new independent grocer has opened a store in Collingwood, Ont.

Gordon’s is owned by Leslie Rabinovitch and Jeff Meakings. The 9,000 sq ft store features a meat counter and produce deparment and employs 25 people. The location also houses a full café that serves coffee, sandwiches and sweets.

In an online story by Collingwood Connection, Meakings said “this is a great platform to support more local producers,” he said. “There are so many amazing farmers and producers who take such pride in what they do. People are looking for other options. If you’re going to be paying so much for groceries, why not know where your food is coming from.”
