SIAL Canada is once again playing host to the Olive d’Or contest awards ceremony. Olive d’Or is the biggest extra-virgin olive oil competition in Canada, annually showcasing more than 100 olive oils for thousands of SIAL Canada attendees.
Sponsored by Grocery Business Magazine, Olive d’Or is open to extra-virgin olive oils from around the world, whether or not they are exhibitors at SIAL Canada.
Olive d’Or recognizes winners with 12 medals, five favourites, one BIO Prize and one design prize. There are four awards categories: light fruit flavour, medium fruit flavour, strong fruit flavour and ripe fruit flavour. The awards ceremony will be held on April 30 at 1:00 p.m.
“The Olive d’Or competition showcases the best extra virgin olive oils from around the world and promotes them on the North American market,” says Christine Cheylan, owner of Château Virant, Olive Oils, and Olive d’Or jury president.
“Year after year I can't help but notice a growing interest from professionals in this ancestral product that has never been as popular as it is now, thanks to its aromas and health benefits. Entering the contest is the guarantee to benefit from wonderful exposure over three days in a prestigious area – the Olive d’Or area, where professionals come to discover good quality products and meet fellow passionate people.”
SIAL Canada takes place this year at Toronto’s Enercare Centre, April 30 - May 2.
