Labelling cycle changes

The Retail Council of Canada (RCC) says the federal government has agreed to “a predictable, aligned and regularized” cycle for all future food labelling changes. Ottawa made the announcement under item 24 of their “Targeted Regulatory Review for Agri-food and Aquaculture,” published on June 7.

In a statement, RCC said this “represents a significant win for RCC members who sell food and have private label brands in Canada, avoiding the need for unpredictable, multiple and costly label changes as a result of various government initiatives.”

RCC will take part in consultations later this year to establish the cycle.
