Granby, Que. food retailer Avril Supermarché Santé plans to open its first supermarket in Montreal in June.
The 7,500 sq ft, $3 million store will be the first “urban concept store in the Quartier International area, near the Old Montreal area. The store will be smaller than its other locations in different regions of Quebec, which range between 20,000 to 44,000 sq ft.
The store will feature organic produce, grocery, food supplements and cosmetics. It will also feature a food service area.
Sylvie Senay, who is Avril’s co-founder and co-owner with Rolland Tanguay, says they have been looking for some time for a downtown location and the Humaniti Montreal complex was a “natural choice.” This real estate project’s human approach is an ideal match to our philosophy, which aims to provide a unique shopping experience that is aligned with the new consumer habits of Quebecers.”
