Market research firm BrandSpark International has announced the 2018 BrandSpark Most Trusted Awards winners for Canada's major retail categories in e-commerce and brick and mortar.
In e-commerce, Amazon won 13 of 26 categories just as its Prime Day sales bonanza was taking place. Walmart emerged as most trusted e-commerce brand in the Grocery/Fresh Food and Food & Beverage (non-perishable) categories.
On the brick and mortar side, Real Canadian Superstore emerged as most trusted brand in the Supermarket/Grocery Store category.
The BrandSpark Canadian Shopper Study found that 41 per cent of Canadians expect to do more shopping online in the coming year. In November 2016, 11 per cent of Canadians had an Amazon Prime membership; by June of this year that figure was 25 per cent. Given that half of US households are Amazon Prime members, the Canadian numbers have nowhere to go but up.
The keys to winning trust? Number one is how well a brand responds to serious issues, followed by providing detailed product information, and offering unfiltered customer reviews on the brand web site.
