George Weston Ltd. and the Loblaw Companies grocery and pharmacy chain it controls said on Tuesday they are cooperating with what they called "an industry-wide investigation" into price fixing among unspecified package bread products by Canada's Competition Bureau.

The two companies said they are cooperating with the regulator but offered no additional detail on the investigation or its targets. "The process is unfolding and the companies will provide further comment when they can do so," they said in a joint release.
