Buy-Low Foods has acquired Choices Markets and the Canadian Choice Wholesalers (CCW) operations, expanding the organization’s reach in Western Canada.
Choices Markets and CCW operations are a separate division under Buy-Low Foods. In an exclusive interview with Grocery Business, Dan Bregg, president of Buy-Low Foods, said the operations will continue to run as they have in the past, "with their own senior management team, format and programs. Our intent is that it will be business as usual at Choices Markets with a focus on the staff, the customer and our supplier partners. Over time, we expect that we will learn best practices from each other and seek opportunities to benefit each of our divisions with the learnings and strengths that each division has."
Buy-Low Foods has been in growth mode in recent years. In 2017, the company opened three new stores and one replacement store, and added the Gabriola Village Foods operation. The new stores opened in Houston, BC, and Tisdale, SK, under the Buy-Low Foods banner and in Surrey, BC, under the Nesters Market banner. The replacement store in West Kelowna, BC, is a Nesters Market and was a smaller Shop N' Save store Buy-Low Foods that operated in that community for close to 30 years.
