Costco Wholesale Corp. posted $13.87 billion in net sales for the retail month of March, up 7.4 per cent from the $12.92 billion for the same month last year.

For the 31 weeks ended April 7, net sales were $88.29 billion, an 8.4 per cent increase from $81.43 billion during the same period last year.

March sales were up strongly in the U.S., at 6.9 per cent, while they rose 3.8 per cent in Canada. When the effects of changes in gasoline prices, foreign exchange and a previously disclosed accounting change concerning revenue recognition are excluded, those figures are 5.5 per cent for the U.S. and 6.7 per cent for Canada.

With those same impacts taken into account, Costco’s e-commerce sales rose 20.1 per cent for March and 24.4 per cent for the 31 weeks ended April 7.
