Egg Farmers EQA program

In keeping with consumer demands for transparency, Egg Farmers of Canada has launched a certification program, Egg Quality Assurance (EQA), for egg cartons. The program shows consumers their eggs are produced by Canadian farmers who meet national food safety and animal care standards.

According to the association, 92 per cent of Canadians said in a survey that it was important to buy eggs from Canadian farms and 94 per cent said that egg cartons should bear a national certification symbol. The EQA is a visual way to recognize made-in-Canada eggs.

Retailers who want to add the EQA mark to their egg cartons can contact Egg Farmers of Canada at [email protected] or visit the web site at eggquality.ca.
