Empire Company has announced management changes to its executive committee. The changes are part of the final phase of the company's Project Sunrise transformation initiative.
St-Laurent is appointed to the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer (COO), Full Service. He assumes responsibility for merchandising, retail operations, and supply chain across the company's full service and community banners, including Sobeys, Safeway, IGA, Thrifty Foods and Foodland.
Michael Vels, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is expanding his role, with Empire's Information Technology team now reporting to him.
Empire has also created two new positions: Chief Information Officer and Head of Innovation and is currently searching for individuals to fill the roles.
Other key changes include two new appointments to the executive committee: Luc L'Archeveque, Senior Vice President, Merchandising and General Manager, Quebec, and Lorne MacLean, Senior Vice President, Retail Operations.
