Farm Boy

A Sobeys in Oakville, Ont. on Lakeshore Road West has closed its doors and will reopen in 2021 as a Farm Boy store.

The new store is part of approximately 20 new Farm Boy locations in Ontario, several of which have opened in downtown Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area, that will be open over the next three years. To date, Farm Boy operates 34 stores in Ontario.

Michael Medline, CEO of Empire Company, has publicly stated that it plans to build and renovate stores, expand its ecommerce offerings and grow its private label portfolio as it drives to add to its $500 million in annualizing savings. The expansion includes plans to open two more robotic fulfillment centres in Canada. It opened the first one in September in Vaughan, Ont. and a second one is under construction in Montreal and is expected to be operating in 2022.
