Vancouver House Fresh St Market Garden in the City 2020

Fresh St. Market has opened its first concept store in Vancouver in the city’s Beach District, an emerging waterfront neighbourhood. The store is the grocer’s fifth location in B.C.

Grocery Business first reported the plans in December 2018.

The new concept store features a licensed 50-seat restaurant, the “Fork Lift Kitchen & Bar, a Click and Collect refrigerated locker and bike delivery options for customers.

“We are proud to bring a new concept grocery and restaurant experience to Vancouver that is hyper local while giving back to our local community at the same time,” says Gary Sorensen, President. “At Fresh St. Market, with everything from our local seafood, cheese, curated meats and craft beers, we are bringing the best of British Columbia to the new Beach District in Vancouver. And if you live downtown, we’ll deliver your ocean and farm-to-table groceries, by bicycle.”

Each area of Fresh St. Market is an adventure, catapulting the recipe imagination and taste buds of chefs and urbanites alike. Areas of the market include: “Welcome to our Garden in the City” “Howe Sound Seafood” “Pacific Street Deli” “Perk for your Pedal” as well as on staff is a Full-time Cheese Monger and the “That’s One Hot Cookie” station with freshly made, warm cookies always being served.

As part of its commitment to the community, Fresh St. Market is donating $5,000 to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.

Sorenson adds that the new location brings a public market-like experience to the growing neighbourhood.

“Back in the day, the land under the north end of the Granville St. Bridge was a tow yard. The future of this neighbourhood is vibrant and we can’t wait to welcome everyone into our new Fresh St. Market and Fork Lift restaurant. With cutting edge food purveyors, some you may have never heard of, this is an opportunity for Vancouverites to discover the vast array of local and unique foods we have available to us in British Columbia, all under one roof.”
